The wonderful lady's slipper orchid proves all skeptics wrong, because it thrives magnificently outdoors. At the latest when a member of the unique Cypripedium genus puts on the flower dress, all toad calls that it cannot be cultivated in the garden are silenced. The lady's slipper orchid usually blooms in early summer

Lady's slipper orchids adorn the summer garden

The linchpin for a magnificent flower is the right location. If you assign a lady's slipper orchid to a semi-shady, rather cool location, the first shoots will appear from the end of March/beginning of April. Under normal weather conditions, it won't be long before the shapely, colorful flowers appear. Look forward to a long flowering period from May to July.

Although a single flower only lasts 2 to 3 weeks, with good care more buds will develop. Only from the end of August does the orchid draw in its leaves and prepare for winter.
