Venus flytraps are not drawn for the flowers, but for the conspicuous snap traps. When the Venus flytrap blooms, significantly fewer traps are formed. It is therefore advisable to cut off the flowers - unless you want to harvest seeds for propagation.

The flowering costs the Venus flytrap a lot of strength

Blossoms drain a lot of power from the Venus flytrap

If the beginnings of the flowers become noticeable, you should cut them off immediately. The more a Venus Flytrap blooms, the fewer traps will develop.

Cut off the flower stalks at the base and discard.

You can also grow new Venus flytraps from the seeds formed in the pollinated flowers. In this case, leave two inflorescences until they dry up.

tips

If you want to harvest seeds, make sure the flower is fertilized. Shake out mature seeds carefully and store them in the refrigerator until sowing. You can then sow the seeds in early spring.
