It's May and peony season is in full swing. The thick flowers on the plant do look great. But in the vase they exude their scent in the living rooms and provide spring fever. How do you cut them?

Cut flowers for the vase
If you want to cut the flowers for the vase, consider the following:
- cut off along with the long stem (as long as possible)
- start at an angle
- cut cleanly - without bruises
- Timing: The bud should be turgid and the color of the petals should already be visible
More reasons for pruning flowers
There may also be other reasons for cutting off peony flowers:
- Drying flowers for arrangements
- illness
- prevent seed formation
- Use petals for tea, syrup or liquor
tips
Not infrequently, the flowers are infested by ants. Be careful if you want to put the flowers in a vase at home!
