They just look too good to be true! The flowers of the ranunculus show the most dazzling colors and are often densely filled with petals. In order to be able to enjoy them even after the flowering period, it is worth drying them…

Especially wedding bouquets you want to keep

Preserve memories of course

Ranunculus are often used as cut flowers in bouquets, especially bridal bouquets. The creamy-white flowering ranunculus is extremely popular in bridal bouquets, as it expresses elegance, purity and playfulness at the same time.

To preserve the memory of the wedding, the bridal bouquet with the ranunculus can simply be dried. In dried form it is suitable as a decoration for the bedroom or living room, for example.

Also for flower arrangements and cake decorations

Dried ranunculus is also suitable for flower arrangements (including stems). The dried flowers also make a good decoration on cakes. For this, it is best to dry them without the stems.

How and where do you dry the flowers?

The following tips should be observed when drying the ranunculus:

  • dry immediately after flowering
  • if necessary, remove withered flowers and leaves
  • bind individual flowers together
  • hang upside down
  • Place to dry: dark, airy, dry
  • well suited: attic, cellar, hallway
  • poorly suited: kitchen, bathroom

The colors of the flowers fade more in too bright and sunny locations. It is therefore not advisable to use such places for drying. The drying process of the ranunculus takes about 1 to 2 months depending on the location and size of the bouquet. After drying, you can spray the ranunculus bouquet with clear varnish, if necessary, so that the beautiful flowers do not become brittle.

A short drying process is also worthwhile here

Did you know that ranunculus is poisonous? But when they dry, they lose most of their toxic ingredients. You can not only dry the flowers of the plant. Even if you have harvested the seeds, you can dry them briefly and store them until you sow them. The onions should only be dried to overwinter them.

tips

The earlier you start drying the ranunculus, the better the bouquet will look.
