Brown tips never look pretty on plants. They make her look sick and stunted. Cyprus grass is increasingly found in living spaces. Read below why and what you can do about it!

Main reason number 1: too low humidity
In the autumn and winter months, there are more brown tips on the Cyprus grass. The reason is the running heaters, which significantly reduce the humidity. This damages the Cyprus grass - regardless of which species it is.
Not only high humidity is necessary. Even if the substrate is too dry, the Cyprus grass reacts sensitively. It shows discoloration of the leaves up to dried tips of the leaves.
Spray regularly with water
In order to ensure a high level of humidity, you should spray the Cyprus grass with water as a care - especially in the winter months when the heating is on. Use a simple water sprayer for this. The water you use should be low in lime (stale) and room temperature.
Fill the pots and coasters with water
In addition to regularly watering the soil and misting the foliage, it is advisable to place the plant in a planter or on a saucer when growing in pots. Planter or saucer must be filled with water. This causes waterlogging, which does not harm the Cyprus grass. Alternatively, you can keep your plant hydroponic right away.
Main reason number 2: too much sun exposure
Another reason for brown tips of the leaves can be too intense sunlight. The leaves burn from the UV light. This can happen quickly, especially with young plants and those specimens outdoors in full sun. You can prevent this by slowly acclimating the young plants to the sunlight at the location.
Main reason number 3: pest infestation
Pests can also lead to brown leaf tips:
- Spider mites and thrips appear more frequently
- Spider mites: on the leaves, stalks and in the leaf axes
- other discolorations of the leaves can (additionally) occur
- in thrips: similar symptoms
- e.g. B. fight with soapy water
tips
If the air humidity has been regulated upwards, the probability of a pest infestation decreases at the same time.
