Originally from the warm Mediterranean regions, the Judas tree (Cercis) - also known to many as the heart tree due to the characteristic shape of its leaves - is a deciduous shrub or tree that can become quite sprawling and tall with age. Together with the magnolia, the tree is one of the most beautiful spring flowers in domestic gardens.

Judas tree blooms between March and May
The mostly pink, but also red or white flowers, not dissimilar to orchids, appear in a magnificent sea of flowers between the months of March and May. The flowering shrub first shows its flowers, only then does the rounded, lush green foliage develop. By the way, the tree flowers not only on the young wood, but also from older branches and even directly from the trunk.
tips
The delicate blossoms of the heart tree are, in contrast to other components, even edible and are wonderful for decorating salads or desserts.
