Castor oil originally comes from the tropics and subtropics. It is not hardy in our latitudes and is therefore usually only cultivated once a year. Can he hibernate too? If yes how?

Overwintering of outdoor and container plants
The aerial parts of the poisonous castor die off when it gets too cold. However, the roots survive. However, if it is very cold, the roots die off as well. You can cover them with brushwood, leaves, compost or hay.
Castor bean in the tub is overwintered as follows:
- bright
- cool but frost-free (e.g. conservatory)
- do not fertilize
- pour little
- Fertilize again from March or repot if necessary
- put outside after the ice saints
tips
If you don't want to or can't overwinter the castor bean, pull out the stalks in autumn and dispose of them in the compost. You can sow the fast-growing plant again in spring.
