In order for the jasmine to develop many fragrant flowers, it needs a location that is as sunny as possible, but not drafty. Since the plant is not hardy, it is grown in a tub on the terrace or balcony or in the flower window.

Jasmine loves sun

The right outdoor location

  • Sunny to slightly shady
  • sheltered from the wind
  • not too wet

Jasmine also tolerates full midday sun outdoors and feels particularly comfortable there. Therefore place the plant on a sunny terrace or a south-facing balcony.

Jasmine does not like wind and too much rain. Protect the ornamental plant from strong drafts and heavy downpours.

The right location in the room

  • Sunny
  • protected from direct midday sun
  • airy

As much as the jasmine likes the blazing sun - if you care for it in the flower window, you have to shade the place a little at midday.

The window glass acts like a magnifying glass and leaves brown spots on the leaves.

Jasmin needs a location that you can ventilate well. Otherwise, the actually robust plant will very quickly suffer from diseases and, above all, pest infestation. Air the window at least twice a day.

Jasmine needs to be overwintered cool

In contrast to scented jasmine or false jasmine, real jasmine is not hardy. In winter, the ornamental plant must be wintered cool but frost-free.

The temperatures at the location in winter should not exceed 10 degrees, because the jasmine will not bloom next year.

Jasmine is deciduous and sheds its leaves in autumn. Nevertheless, you should hibernate it in light.

tips

Jasmine makes no great demands on the plant substrate. Normal garden or potting soil with little ripe compost is sufficient for planting. To prevent waterlogging, you should mix in some expanded clay (€19.73) or sand.
