Jasmine is a popular house and container plant because of its beautiful white flowers. It is all the more annoying when the jasmine does not bloom. Why this can be and what you can do against flowering laziness.

Cause of non-flowering
It is almost always care mistakes that cause the jasmine blossom to fail. The most common causes are:
- too little light
- too warm winter quarters
- too much pruning
- too old plant
Jasmine needs a lot of light and sun
During spring and summer, jasmine needs a lot of light and warmth. A location in full sun is good for the plant. Only when you pull them in the flower window, you need to protect them from sunburn.
If you grow jasmine in a tub on the terrace or balcony, look for a location that is as sunny as possible. Only there does the climbing plant unfold its full splendor.
The temperatures in the winter quarters
As warm as the jasmine likes it during the flowering period - the temperatures must not be too high in winter. A maximum of 10 degrees is the ideal winter temperature. If the plant is in a warmer place, it will not flower.
Cut jasmine properly
Jasmine should be trimmed regularly. You have to be careful when doing this. If you shorten it too much, remove the inflorescences that mainly develop on the young shoots.
Prune the plant just before it sprouts in spring. If possible, only remove old shoots. This encourages the formation of new branches with lots of flowers.
Rejuvenate too old plants
Sometimes the jasmine has already bloomed profusely for several years. If it stops flowering, it's simply too old. To get the jasmine to bloom again, consider rejuvenating it.
Cut it back to a third and remove all old shoots just above the base.
The jasmine needs one to two years to recover from this radical cut. During this time it will hardly or not flower at all.
tips
It is normal for jasmine leaves to turn yellow and eventually fall off before the winter break. If the plant loses its leaves in summer, it needs more water or a larger pot.
