Just bought a single plant and planted it as a solitaire in the hope that it would present endless purple berries at its location? But only a few of the berries appeared? Then you should multiply your love pearl bush and plant the specimens you have drawn next to the previous loners!

The beautiful love pearls contain the seeds for propagation

Cut, pot and grow cuttings

The propagation of the beauty fruit is very easy if you watch the right time and know how to proceed. In particular, propagation via cuttings or sticks has proven to be successful. Try this method in the fall!

How to proceed with the cuttings propagation:

  • Cut off 10 cm long, healthy shoots without berries
  • remove bottom leaves
  • Prepare pot with potting soil + sand
  • put up to 3 cuttings in the ground
  • Cuttings should protrude 1 to 2 cm from the soil
  • Moisten the soil and keep it moist

Place the cuttings in the pot in a bright and cool (but frost-free) place. Make sure the soil doesn't dry out. In spring you can put the pots out on the balcony, for example. The cuttings should be rooted by summer and can be planted out or repotted.

Sow seeds from the love pearl bush

There is also the possibility of growing the beauty fruit from seeds. In principle, sowing can be done at home all year round. It is important that the seeds can sprout in a warm location and that the young plants receive plenty of light.

You can harvest the berries with the seeds in autumn. At best, sow them in the spring. How it works:

  • Soak seeds in water for a day
  • Prepare seed trays or pots with seed soil
  • Sow seeds 1 cm deep
  • Keep substrate moist
  • Germination time: 14 to 21 days

As soon as the first leaves appear, the plants can be pricked out. Then it's a good time to repot them. Only later should you get into a bucket, insofar as a bucket posture is the goal.

tips

The poisonous fruits or seeds of the love pearl bush should be kept where small children and pets have no access!
