Ornamental grasses are preferably planted in spring
Spring planting is preferable
If ornamental grasses are planted in autumn, they will soon face frost. As a result, they can no longer take root. They need winter protection in the form of brushwood or foliage. Spring planting (February to April) is therefore preferable.
Not only the time, but also the place is crucial
But not only the time for the planting is decisive, but also the location. Depending on the species, ornamental grasses are suitable for:
- Rock gardens, heather gardens, prairie gardens, perennial beds
- shady locations: sedges, snow marbel, dwarf bamboo
- Sunny locations: Pennisetum, Chinese reed, pampas grass
