It was beautiful, the time when the daffodils were in full bloom. From yellow, white to orange and red, different flower colors are present depending on the species and variety. But what happens after the daffodils have bloomed?

After flowering, the daffodil can form seeds

Post flowering procedures

Most daffodils bloom between March and April. When flowering is over, you should know whether you want seeding or not. It takes a lot of energy for a daffodil to form the seeds. It is more advisable to propagate them via their breeding bulbs.

The following procedures should or can be carried out after flowering:

  • remove old inflorescences
  • lightly fertilize B. with compost, liquid fertilizer, horn shavings (32.93€) (onions need nutrients)
  • cut off brown leaves
  • implement if necessary
  • If necessary, plant potted daffodils in the garden
  • if necessary, separate the onions when planting them out

tips

Daffodils in the lawn are weakened if the lawn is mowed too early. So: Only mow when the daffodils have retreated.
