Ragwort forms a rosette with deeply dissected leaves in the first year. Only in the second year does the upright stalk with the bright yellow daisy flowers form.

The heyday
The first flowers appear from mid-June, the main bloom of the Ragwort is from July to August. Hence the name of the plant: Jacobi is on July 25th and on this date the Jacob's rice herb is in full bloom.
If the ragwort is left to grow undisturbed, countless seeds form from the bright yellow flower heads, which are spread by the wind, similar to those of the dandelion. After that, the herb is so weak that the mother plant dies.
tips
To consistently combat ragwort, it is important to cut out and destroy the plant before it blooms. Simply leaving is not a solution, because then only the mother plant dies while thousands of seeds grow into new plants at the same time.
