It is well known that the blue cushion prefers to grow in the sun and tolerates partial shade. But when is it planted, and when are its seeds sown?
Planting times for blue cushions are flexible
Plant in spring or fall
From April to May you can plant early blue cushions from the hardware store or garden center. Another option is autumn. If you plant the cushion perennial in autumn, you should protect it with brushwood or leaves in the first winter.
Sow between April and June
After the flowering period (varies from variety to variety) or generally in spring, the time has come to sow the seeds:
- Preculture: April
- Direct sowing: May to June
- Plant/place young plants outside from the end of May
tips
Cuttings are obtained and planted in late summer. They can root safely in pots if you ensure a regular water supply. They shouldn't be outside until next spring.
