They belong to the Saxifrage family, grow easily, spread over the years without any action and are easy to propagate by hand. But are these properties really beneficial or is the bergenia poisonous?

Non-toxic - worry-free use
Unlike many other evergreen plants, the bergenia is not poisonous. This applies to both humans and animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits and birds.
You can therefore plant the Bergenia in any location in your garden without hesitation. You don't have to be squeamish when it comes to maintenance either. When cutting you do not need gloves to protect against toxic substances and the clippings can end up on the compost.
tips
You can use the leaves of the bergenia for bouquets, for example. They are often used in floristry because of their beautiful heart shape.
