It is very easy to multiply. It is undemanding in care and does not take up much space. But does the Bergenia grow equally well in every location?

Bergenia like to be in the sun or semi-shade

Too shady - too lazy to flower

If you plant your bergenia in a location that is too shady, sooner or later you have to expect the bergenia to become lazy and eventually not bloom at all.

The following aspects must be taken into account when choosing a location:

  • sunny to semi-shady
  • Well suited: Wood edge, water edge, rock garden, beds of wild perennials
  • advantageous plant neighbors: lavender, hostas, stonecrop
  • leave enough space (at least 40 cm)
  • prefers permeable, nutrient-rich, acidic to alkaline soils

tips

Freshly propagated specimens such as cuttings and divided Bergenia should not be exposed to the sun. It's warm there and rooting is starting. But the water that evaporates too quickly throws a spoke in the wheel.
