Their buds are reminiscent of small, luminous lanterns, their flowers are more like bells. So their names fit the plant perfectly: balloon flower or Chinese bellflower. Very decorative and a little sophisticated, they adorn many flower gardens.

The ideal location
Before planting, think carefully about the location of the balloon flower, because they don't like it when they have to be transplanted. This is partly due to their deep taproots. The balloon flower prefers sunny to semi-shady, protected from cold wind and heavy rain. Give her enough space, because over the years she will grow a little in width.
The best floor
In contrast to many other garden plants, the soil for the balloon flower can be a little calcareous, but it should definitely contain plenty of nutrients. When planting, put some compost or horn shavings (€32.93) in the planting hole to enrich the soil. If the soil is not permeable, waterlogging easily forms. The balloon flower doesn't like that at all. In this case, loosen the soil with some sand.
Prepare the planting
The distance between the individual plants should be about 30 cm, with larger specimens a little more. Also, these should not necessarily be planted at the front edge of the bed, they are ideal for the garden background. Dig the planting hole deep enough, the balloon flower will form quite deep taproots, and add organic fertilizer to the hole before planting.
The best planting time
The best time to plant the hardy balloon flower is spring, at least when planting outdoors. Container and balcony plants can be planted at almost any time. However, if possible, avoid planting or repotting during the flowering period. After planting, the balloon flower must be watered well.
The most important planting tips for balloon flowers:
