Native to Europe and parts of Asia, Pink Rose (Dianthus deltoides) is an attractive, dense mat-forming perennial. The bright red, bright pink or pure white flowers with serrated petals appear between June and September.

The heath carnation loves the sun

Lots of sun and nutrient-poor soil

A location that is as sunny as possible is essential for plentiful flowering, and heather carnations also need permeable, moderately moist and not too nutrient-rich soil with a pH value in the neutral to alkaline range. Wetness is poorly tolerated, especially in winter. Heather carnations are particularly suitable for planting on dry stone walls and in rock and gravel gardens. It is best to plant the perennial, which can be up to 20 centimeters high, in the foreground of a border. Expect around 16 plants per square meter.

tips

Incidentally, the following varieties are particularly recommended: "Albus" flowers white, "Lichtfunk" red with a darker ring in the center and "Vampire" scarlet. The “Roseus” variety has intense pink flowers.
