A mole in the garden is usually not a pretty sight. In addition, the mole is under protection and may not be killed or caught. Active hunting and aggressive driving away of the animals is also prohibited. However, gentle eviction methods are permitted. Find out here how to use a pinwheel to persuade the mole to change clothes.

The mole as a beneficial creature
Even if the mole leaves unsightly mounds in the garden, it is basically a beneficial creature:
- Moles are master pest eaters and protect your vegetable garden from annoying pests.
- Moles ensure good soil aeration and excellent soil quality.
- Moles are strictly herbivores and would never eat your vegetables. Eaten roots are an indication of voles.
So, before you get rid of your mole, you should consider whether the pros outweigh the cons.
The principle of operation of the pinwheel against the mole
Moles see extremely poorly. They hear and feel all the better for it - a fact you can use against him. A wind turbine makes noise, not to our ears, but certainly to the ears of the mole. In principle, the wind turbine is the animal-friendly alternative to ultrasound. Nobody likes constant noise at home. Therefore, well-built and cleverly placed windmills can tempt the mole to move.
Build your own pinwheel against moles
Even if you can buy wind turbines against moles in specialist shops, you can definitely save yourself the money. Build the wind turbine yourself! For each pinwheel you need a metal rod (!) and a plastic bottle. Metal conducts sound better than wood or plastic, making it a better choice for the anti-mole pinwheel. Incidentally, the wind turbine also works against voles.
Then proceed as follows:
- Use a pen to mark four to five "wings" about halfway down the bottle. These wings should be about an index finger long and half an index finger wide. There must be about 1cm space between each wing so that the bottle does not break.
- Using sharp scissors, cut out three sides of the wings. Leave a page.
- On this side bend the cut out part outwards.
- Repeat the process for all other wings.
- Remove the cap from the bottle and turn it upside down onto the stick.
set up the windmill
This method works best if you build several windmills and set them up in different places. The important thing is that you hit the aisle. It also makes sense not to put the wind turbines in molehills, so as not to deprive the animals of the opportunity to escape. Therefore, draw a straight line between two hills and dig up the area until you hit the corridor. Insert the pinwheel here and dig up the passage again. Repeat the process until all the pinwheels are placed.

Combining this method with other anti-mole remedies such as garlic increases the chance that the mole will move.
