The space in the balcony box is limited. Accordingly, there are great efforts to use it as optimally as possible. The long shoots of pennywort are just what they need. Its summer flowering period is also made for us.

Ideal for plant mix
Pennywort takes up very little space in the flower box with its roots.(16.99€) Instead of taking up space all around, its shoots hang down more than half a meter. This means that the greening of the balcony cannot be overlooked, even from a distance.
Ideally, pennywort is combined with other types of plants, which in turn strive to grow. For example with lilac flowering finials. When putting them together, make sure that all plants have similar requirements.
Abundant flowering in summer
The long flowering period from May to August is almost the same as the time when we use balconies. So with this plant we have created an almost continuously blooming abode. The single, approx. 3 cm large and bright yellow flowers harmonize well with flowering plants of a different colour.
tips
The yellow flowers, like the green leaves, are edible and can also enhance the appearance of any dish.
planting in spring
Pennywort is planted in spring. You can get young plants in specialist shops or you can propagate them yourself from offshoots or cuttings. Pennywort makes few demands on the substrate and is even content with simple garden soil. It is only important that the substrate is permeable, because despite the great desire for water, waterlogging is harmful. Plant the plant at the edge of the window box so that its shoots can hang down.
care for good growth
The earth must never dry out completely, so all specimens in the balcony box must be watered plentifully and regularly. The warmer the weather, the greater the need for water.
The pennywort gets nutrients when planting by adding mature compost or another long-term fertilizer. During the vegetation period, you can also fertilize regularly with a liquid fertilizer.
Regular pruning promotes dense branching, which is usually desired in balcony planting. It may also be necessary to slow down pennywort if it threatens to overwhelm neighboring plants with its lush growth.
hibernate for the following year
Pennywort is hardy and does not need to be cultivated as an annual plant. However, it must be protected in winter, as the soil in the flower box freezes through more easily.
