Savoy cabbage is a type of cabbage with ruffled leaves and a mildly aromatic taste. The annual plant is available in numerous early, mid and late growing varieties. This allows the savoy cabbage to be grown in the garden over a longer period of time. The following schedule gives an overview.

Early Varieties

Early Savoy cabbage is sown under glass from March or grown on the warm windowsill. From March sowing takes place in the cold frame and from April it can be sown directly into the bed. Pre-grown plants come into the bed from the end of April. Depending on the time of sowing, the savoy cabbage harvest begins in July.

Medium grades

Cultivation of medium-sized varieties begins in April in the cold frame, time for planting out is from May to July. The harvest lasts from August to November.
