As the University of Zurich and other research institutes have found out, garlic has a positive effect on dogs. As a feed additive, the medicinal herb alleviates annoying old age complaints and promotes overall vitality.

Garlic that you have grown yourself can therefore be used as a sensible dietary supplement. If you want to do something good for your four-legged friend, you should preferably use one of the milder varieties of garlic as a feed additive.

Toxic in high concentrations

In terms of dosage, fresh or dried garlic is toxic from a daily dose of 4 grams per kilogram of body weight. Not based on one day, but accumulated over 7 days.

A 25-pound dog would have to eat a total of 50 cloves of garlic in a week to suffer damage. These utopian values need no further explanation.
