There are very different ripening times within the large pumpkin family. Using the example of the popular pumpkin variety 'Bischofsmütze', the different phases in growth can be illustrated very well.

From gnome to giant in 110 days
In order for a magnificent bishop's cap to develop from a small pumpkin seed, the plant goes through the following stages of development:
- Sowing to germination: 7 days
- Germination to transplant: 21 days
- Transplant to female flower : 32 days
- Pollination to maturity: 60 days
These figures are of course average values. For example, if you decide to sow directly, the cultivation time will be extended by at least 21 days.
