Adequate water supply is a central aspect in the care of strawberries. Bark mulch reduces the rate of evaporation. The natural material is also useful as protection against rot. Find out the details here.

This is how bark mulch protects your strawberry plants

In order for strawberries to fully ripen, they must not be thirsty. If you don't want to be constantly on the go with the watering can, use the beneficial properties of bark mulch.

  • immediately after planting cover the soil with bark mulch
  • the material keeps the soil warm and moist for longer
  • the layer should not be higher than 2-3 centimeters

If bright red, plump strawberries shine at the hobby gardener, a lush harvest is still threatened by rot. The more the ripening strawberries increase in girth and weight, the closer they get to the ground. If there is permanent contact with the ground, there is a risk of rot and mold forming. This is where bark mulch comes into play. Strawberry plants should now be placed under the chopped pieces of bark at the latest.
