Dried strawberries are a delicious and figure-friendly treat. You can dry the fruit yourself without any unhealthy sulphur. It's so easy to do in the oven. Drying in the hot air device is also easy to do.

Strawberry chips from the oven - healthy and low in calories

At the peak of the harvest season, they are available in abundance, juicy-sweet strawberries to dry yourself. Here's how the fruit turns into delicious strawberry chips:

  • fully ripe, large fruits are perfectly suitable
  • wash and clean carefully immediately after harvesting or shopping
  • Cut into equal slices with a sharp knife
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the strawberry slices on it
  • Dry in the oven at 50 degrees
  • Turn every 15 minutes during the initial period
  • the oven door always remains slightly open

Experience has shown that this process takes a day and a night. The relatively low temperature ensures that most of the vitamins are preserved. Drying is a little faster at 100 degrees, which of course is at the expense of the nutrient content.

Ideal for impatient strawberry fans - dry in the hot air device

Drying in a convection oven is an excellent method of preserving strawberries. The device has a small heater with air circulation function. In addition, there are several sieve trays. So that the strawberries do not stick here, they should be brushed with a little olive oil. The decisive advantage over drying in the oven is the shorter period of 6-8 hours.

The preparations are no different from drying in the oven. The strawberry slices are spread out on the sieve grids so that they do not touch. Brush the fruit with pineapple or lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. At a temperature of 60 to 75 degrees, the process is completed after a few hours. Strawberries are soft and pliable after drying.

The dried strawberries are stored in a tightly closed glass container in a dark, cool place. Temperatures between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius are ideal.
