The native wild strawberries are much more robust than sensitive cultivated strawberries. This circumstance offers more flexibility in the choice of location. This is how it should be structured.

lighting conditions and soil conditions
In the wild, wild strawberries can be found not only along sun-drenched forest edges, but also in the light shade of tall trees. From this, the following site conditions in the garden and on the balcony can be concluded:
- sunny to semi-shady position
- nutrient-rich, humus-rich, fresh soil
- ideally with a slightly acidic to neutral pH
If there is still a spot free in the light shade on the balcony, the wild strawberries also feel in good hands here. Planted in high-quality potting soil, the more airy and at the same time humus-rich it is, the better the plants will stretch out their roots. Therefore, enrich the substrate with compost, peat and sand. The closer the consistency comes to fresh forest soil, the more luxuriantly the flowers and fruits develop.
