Tangerines are quite sensitive to cold and temperature fluctuations - even for a citrus tree. With constantly changing temperatures, the tree tends to shed all its leaves. The tangerine tree should be brought into the winter quarters at permanent temperatures below 18 °C.

Overwinter tangerines
Like the other citrus species, the tangerine needs a frost-free winter location that is not too warm or too bright. It must be ensured that the plant is in the sun for at least six hours a day. Temperatures are ideally between 10 and 12 °C. Water infrequently but regularly and check the plant for pests from time to time. Otherwise, leave the tangerines alone at best: do not rotate, do not turn, do not repot, cut or fertilize.
tips and tricks
The Japanese satsuma tangerine is probably the most suitable species for summer outdoor keeping. There are more than 20 selections from it, all of which have in common the insensitivity to cool, damp summer periods. In addition, the Satsuma is frost hardy down to minus eight degrees Celsius; the hibernation can also take place in unheated conservatories.
