The snowball hydrangea "Annabelle" is a vigorous and richly flowering shrub that can grow up to two meters high and just as wide. "Annabelle" prefers a semi-shady location, but also feels at home in the sun and even in the shade.

Snowball hydrangea Annabelle likes partial shade

Light shade is ideal for "Annabelle".

In a sheltered place under tall trees that provide light shade without midday sun, with humus-rich and fresh soil, the snowball hydrangea "Annabelle" can develop into a wonderfully flowering shrub with numerous large umbels. But you can also cultivate "Annabelle" successfully in more extreme locations, be they in full sun or in deep shade. Much more important than the light conditions is the soil, which should be loose and well-drained, humic, nutritious and slightly acidic to neutral.

tips and tricks

If the soil is very alkaline (i.e. pH above 7), your Annabelle snowball hydrangea will fade and its foliage will gradually turn light yellow. This typical symptom is called chlorosis. However, higher pH values are tolerated if sufficient nutrients - especially iron - are available.
