In our country, reeds can often be seen growing wild on lake and river banks. But did you know that this common sweet grass can even eat? Below we explain which parts of the plant are edible.

Eat the young shoots of the reeds
When the reeds sprout again in spring, the sprouts can be harvested and prepared as vegetables. They can be eaten both raw and cooked.
Use the leaves for oriental dishes
In Asia, numerous dishes are prepared in banana leaves or reed leaves. After thoroughly cleaning the leaves, they are pre-cooked until tender. Then you can fill them with rice, beans or something similar, tie them tightly with string and cook until the filling is ready.
eat roots
The roots are also edible raw and cooked and are popular in outdoor survival activities. They contain a lot of starch and nutrients and are therefore an ideal wild vegetable.
