So that we can enjoy the delicate spring flowers in spring, the corresponding preparations must be made in the autumn of the previous year. The flower bulbs can establish themselves in the soil over the winter and then sprout at the right time.

Preparations for planting
In August or September, the gardener begins spring preparations. Now is exactly the right time to plant the bulbous plants. This allows the onions to develop enough roots before the winter frosts.
Perennials that bloom early also belong in the ground now so that they can take root and sprout well in spring.
Some tips for the preparations:
- Early flowering bulbs like crumbly soil, so loosen the soil before planting.
- remove weeds
- The tip of the onion points upwards.
- The soil must not be too wet, mix in sand if necessary.
- Don't forget to water after planting.
Plant spring bloomers
Early bloomers can be cultivated outdoors or in containers.
tub planting
The buckets are filled with good potting soil and placed on a styrofoam plate (€35.50) to protect against frost. Taking into account the correct planting depth (usually written on the packaging), the bulbs are planted in the ground. A brushwood cover serves as frost protection from above.
outdoor planting
The procedure here is similar to that for planting in tubs, except that a vole basket can be used when digging the planting hole (about 15 cm deep). It protects the onions from damage caused by feeding. A 2 cm thick layer of sand is placed in the basket and then the onions are placed on top. They are finally covered with soil and watered.
the best-known early bloomers
Early bloomers, which are indispensable in our gardens, are for example
- Tulips with an incredible variety of colors and shapes
- Crocuses that stick their noses out to the light as early as February, often through a blanket of snow. They are only 10 cm high and come in many colors.
- Spring anemones flower from March and grow to a height of about 15 cm. They are available in the colors white, blue, pink, golden yellow.
- The graceful grape hyacinth blooms in white, blue and violet until April. It likes to go wild under trees and shrubs.
- Daffodils or daffodils herald the wedding of spring. They are only 10 cm tall as mini daffodils, but normally reach up to 45 cm. Different shades of the colors white and yellow are also available here.
