In autumn, large quantities of plums ripen, which can often only be processed with difficulty in the private sector. If everyone has already eaten enough plum cake and the pantry contains plenty of plum jam or jam, then you can also keep your plums in the form of juice.

Plum juice is delicious and healthy

Juice plums

Use only really fresh plums for juicing. It is best to pick your fruit and juice immediately. When buying in the supermarket, make sure that the plums are still firm. Overripe, already mushy goods contain hardly any juice.

There are several ways to make plum juice:

  • Juicing in the steam juicer
  • Juicing with the juicer

Using a centrifugal juicer is not recommended for soft fruit. In addition, a lot of oxygen gets into the juice in this way and a large part of the nutrients are lost.

The steam juicing of plums

First, the steam juicer is prepared and water is poured into the lower container. Follow the operating instructions. The upper fruit basket is available for the fruit.

  1. Wash and stone the plums.
  2. Add sugar if the fruit is too acidic.
  3. Place the plums in the fruit basket, close the juicer and bring to a boil on the stove.
  4. As soon as juice collects in the drain tube, after about 30 to 70 minutes, the juice can be filled into sterilized bottles.

Juicing in the juicer or the slow juicer

The Slow Juicer works with a low number of revolutions, i.e. the screw press rotates relatively slowly. The gently pressed juice therefore still contains all its nutrients. This also means that less oxygen gets into the juice and it doesn't oxidize as quickly. If you want to keep the juice pressed in the Slow Juicer for a longer period of time, you have to boil the juice again and then fill it into sterile bottles as well.

Before you start juicing, wash and stone the plums. Depending on the device, it may be necessary to chop the fruit as well. Drink the juice as fresh as possible.
