Walnuts should not only be on the plate at Christmas time. The nuts contain a lot of minerals, fiber and fatty acids that are important for our body. Its fine aroma can be combined with many dishes. It will be more aromatic if the walnuts have been roasted beforehand.

Roast walnuts in the oven
The first way to toast walnuts without much effort is to use the oven.
- Preheat the oven to around 190 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Crack the walnuts and place them on the tray. Of course, you can also use nuts that have already been shelled. The nuts should not be on top of each other on the tray.
- Toast the nuts for about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Turn the nuts halfway through. If not all the nuts are the same size, it may be that some are already done.
- Sort out the finished nuts so they don't burn and continue cooking the rest.
- Remove the nuts from the oven and allow them to cool in a suitable bowl.
Roast the walnuts in the pan
Roasting in the pan takes less time than the oven variant.
- Heat a large skillet on the stove.
- Do not use oil, the oil in the nut itself will suffice for roasting.
- Now add walnut pieces of the same size to the pan. The ground should be just covered.
- Use a spatula to turn the nuts while they are roasting. The nuts should not burn.
- Depending on the size of the pieces, roasting can take up to five minutes.
- Remove the nuts from the pan immediately when they have reached the desired browning. In the hot pan they would brown and possibly burn.
- Before serving, allow the walnuts to cool sufficiently so that no one can get burned.
Toast walnuts in the microwave
The fastest roasting variant is the microwave. Here you can get delicious, roasted nuts in about two minutes.
- Cut the shelled walnuts into equal-sized pieces.
- Place the nuts in a microwave-safe bowl, they should not be on top of each other.
- Let the nuts roast on full power for one minute.
- Check the roast.
- If there is no turntable, the bowl must now be rotated.
- Continue toasting in 20-second intervals, always checking the result. This will prevent the nuts from burning.
- Remove the walnuts from the hot microwave bowl and let them cool on a plate.
