The weigela flowers from May

How long do weigela bloom?

Most varieties of weigela bloom very profusely for several weeks from around May. The flowering period usually lasts until June, sometimes even until July. With good care and in full sun, it will bloom again in early autumn. However, this is far less lush than the main flower.

What color does the weigela bloom?

Probably the best-known variety of the genus Weigelia is the carmine-red flowering Bristol Ruby. In autumn it also shows a beautiful light brown to golden yellow foliage. So that it comes into its own, give it enough space. Also keep in mind that the Bristol Ruby can grow to be quite a large shrub, reaching a height of two to three meters.

Pure white flowers are very rarely seen on the weigela. If you would like to have this color in your garden, then plant the "Snowflake" variety. As with this weigela, the golden weigela has its flower color in its name. It's blooming golden yellow.

The flower colors of the weigela:

  • Snowflake: pure white, very rare color
  • Gold Weigela: golden yellow
  • Variegated Weigela Nana variegata: soft pink
  • Red-leaved Weigela Purpurea: dark pink
  • Weigela Bristol Ruby: carmine
  • Dwarf Weigelia 'All Summer Red': vermilion
