As an ambitious gardener, you certainly know the wonderful feeling of observing specially grown fruit as it ripens. Have you ever tried it with a pepperoni? The vegetable variety is very easy to grow yourself. With the following instructions, even inexperienced growers can do it.

Hot peppers grow well from seeds

seed production

To get seeds for a pepperoni, you have two options:

  • Purchase on the Internet or specialist shops
  • Extraction from ripe pods

Purchase online or in specialist shops

Pepperoni seeds are available all year round. We recommend ordering online, as the selection of different types is the largest here.

Extraction from ripe pods

If you already have a pepper or buy a fresh pod from the supermarket, you can remove the seeds and plant them in the ground. It is important to choose a ripe, red fruit, as the seeds of green peppers usually germinate poorly. How to proceed with the acquisition:

  • Slice the peppers lengthways
  • scoop out the seeds with your fingers
  • Spread the seeds on kitchen paper
  • dry in a warm place
  • to remove the last moisture, wrap the seeds with the paper
  • Pour into a container, tightly closed and keep in a dark place

Sow hot peppers

The seeds obtained in this way can now be planted in the ground to germinate. Use spring pots that you put in a bowl. Two to three dried seeds per pot are sufficient. To ensure the water supply is secured, fill the bowl with a centimeter of liquid. The first shoots will soon appear.

Further care

pour

Make sure to keep the substrate moist at all times. To avoid waterlogging, install drainage. In addition, watering should always be done from below. Never water directly onto the leaf surface.

location

Your homegrown peppers need a lot of light to develop. A sunny spot on the windowsill is ideal. The temperatures must not fall below 10°C, as the peppers are very sensitive to cold. That's why you should only put your peppers outside after the ground frosts have subsided - i.e. around mid-May.

Bucket attitude

If you would like to continue growing your peppers in the tub, this even offers a number of advantages:

  • better site selection
  • easier wintering thanks to mobility
