Blackberry leaf tea is delicious and healthy

Dry blackberry leaves yourself

If you have blackberry bushes in your garden, you have a clear advantage here. But wild blackberries can also be found in forests and fields, and their leaves are also suitable for drying.

  1. Pick blackberry leaves from unsprayed shrubs. Make sure that the shrubs are not in the street area. Nobody wants blackberry leaves in which toxins from exhaust gases have been deposited.
  2. Rinse the leaves briefly under running water and dry them carefully.
  3. Place the leaves on a tray or baking sheet in a dark, dry place. During the drying time, no light must reach the leaves, otherwise bitter substances will develop.
  4. After about a week the leaves are dry. They are easy to crumble with your fingers.

Drying in the dehydrator

If you own a dehydrator, you can also dry the blackberry leaves here. The clean leaves are spread out on the tray and dried at a low temperature, around 40 degrees, for several hours.

Prepare blackberry leaf tea

A medicinal tea can be prepared immediately with the dried leaves of the blackberry. The taste is acceptable, but it becomes more aromatic if the blackberry leaves are fermented beforehand. To do this, dry the leaves in a dark place for two days. Then cut the leaves into fine strips and freeze them in an airtight container. For fourteen days you take the bag out of the freezer every day, take the leaves out for a quarter of an hour and then freeze everything again. The tea leaves become dark like black tea and have a delicious aroma.

A house tea with blackberry leaves

If you want to create a healthy, delicious tea yourself, use equal parts of dried blackberry leaves, raspberry leaves and strawberry leaves and add a small bouquet of woodruff for a special taste.
