Why does thuja turn yellow?
There are a number of causes that ensure that the tree of life turns yellow or gets yellow tips.
- Location too humid / too dry

The tree of life is very robust, so diseases and pests are less common. Mistakes in care or location are usually responsible for the yellow discoloration of the needles.
Incorrect care of the thuja
Thuja likes a constantly slightly moist soil without waterlogging. If the soil dries out, the tips will turn yellow and then brown. More frequent watering helps here. If there is waterlogging, you must make sure that the soil is better drained.
The gardener is often too good when it comes to fertilizing. This is a real problem, especially with mineral fertilizers. Over-fertilization is just as harmful for the Thuja hedge as too few nutrients.
Rather use organic fertilizers such as compost, horn shavings (32.93€) and manure. Bark mulch is also good for nutrient supply.
Yellow tips due to magnesium deficiency

If there is a magnesium deficiency, fertilize the hedge with Epsom salt. You must follow the dosage instructions exactly. Over-fertilization with Epsom salt leads to acidification of the soil, which also weakens the thuja.
Epsom salt can either be sprayed in liquid form or spread on the ground in solid form. The upper and lower sides of the leaves are sprayed. Do not spray directly on the trunk. Also, you must not fertilize on a very sunny day.
