In addition to representatives with rather inconspicuous flowers, various Kalanchoe species such as the Flammende Käthchen are primarily cultivated because of their willingness to bloom. The extremely easy-care succulents are a pretty splash of color on the windowsill, especially since they sprout their umbels of flowers when other plants are hibernating.

The main flowering period
The short-day plant produces its first flowers as early as February and blooms well into July, provided only the spent heads have been carefully cleaned.
In order for the Kalanchoe to flower at all, it is important that the plant is not surrounded by daylight for more than nine hours from November. If necessary, cover the succulent with a piece of cardboard cut to size, because the artificial light switched on in the evening also prevents flowering.
tips
If the temperature falls below 18 degrees, the Kalanchoe blooms only very hesitantly. So if you keep the plant cold, you can effectively delay the start of flowering.
