- Lay small paving stones or cobblestones in a circle with large, sand-filled joints
- Concrete grass pavers with cavities planted with grass or small sedum
- Rustic: Tree guard made of braided cast iron on a self-supporting substructure
A creative combination of an edging with paving stones and a cover grid made of CorTen steel with a recess for the tree trunk is trendy. The frame consists of one, two or three rows of stones. A bedding of gravel and crushed stone is only required if the tree grate is driven over with a ride-on mower. A disadvantage of this option is that weed growth is to be expected between the grid.

This is a four-part concrete frame as a boundary between the pavement and the tree. Within the frame is a two-part concrete grid with a circular 45cm recess for the tree.
