Sliding is a lot of fun, even for very small children. The bigger the offspring gets, the faster they usually slide. Unfortunately, not every slide is fast enough. However, it is mostly quite easy to fix this problem.

Why isn't the slide working properly?
There are different reasons why a slide is too fast or too slow. Regardless of the material of the slide surface, the slope is very important. If the slide is too steep, your children will slide relatively quickly. On the other hand, if the slide is too shallow, the speed leaves a lot to be desired. Plastic slides get quite dull on their own over time and need help.
How can I make a slide faster?
Don't grab the tool right away if your slide is too slow. Maybe it's because of your kids' clothes. Jeans, for example, often have a “slip-resistant” effect. Let your kids slip into other pants for once. Sometimes this measure is enough.
Plastic slides become dull over time and therefore slow. Polishing the sliding surface helps here. You can find special polishing agents for plastics on the market, and silicone spray can also be very helpful.
It does take some work and time, but the results are quite impressive. However, you should sand off deep scratches and grooves with good sandpaper before polishing. Metal slides are much less susceptible in this regard, and thorough cleaning often helps here.
Last help - the conversion
If none of the previous measures have helped, then the only thing left is to convert the slide to make the slide surface steeper. There are basically two ways to do this. Either raise the start/top or lower the front/bottom of the slide. If you take a close look at the slide, you will probably quickly see whether or which of these alternatives is feasible.
The essentials in brief:
- Check the inclination of the sliding surface and adjust if necessary
- dress the children in clothes that slide easily
- Sand off rough scratches and grooves
- Polish slide surface
- Apply silicone spray
tips
Before you change anything on the slide, let your children slide with different pants. Maybe the problem will go away on its own.
