If you fell a larger tree in your garden, you will quickly have a problem with its disposal. Tree trunks and stumps as well as branches and roots with a diameter of more than 15 centimeters may not be picked up with the green waste or taken to the local recycling center. So what options do you have to get rid of the wood legally?

For fireplace owners: Chop up and use as firewood
The obvious solution is to chop up the tree and roots (although you can leave them and the stump in the ground) and use them as firewood in the fireplace. Depending on the size and relocation of the tree, this means a lot of sweaty work, which can be made easier with the right equipment. You can first roughly chop the wood with a chainsaw or a circular saw and then chop it into logs with an axe. Even if you don't have a fireplace: A small fireplace for a campfire fits in every garden, for example in a fire bowl or a fire basket.
Instead of disposing of it: Use tree trunks for garden design
Furthermore, tree trunks and stump can also be used wonderfully for further garden design and for larger garden projects. You can hollow out the stump left in the ground and use it as a planter, place planters on it, let climbing plants grow over it, convert it into a table… there are lots of great ideas and suggestions here. The tree trunk, on the other hand, is suitable for supporting a patio roof, jacked up as a rustic bench or sawn up as a piece of rustic furniture.

If you still want or need to get rid of the wood: Look around for a composting plant in your area. They are usually happy to take larger pieces of wood, provided you can deliver them yourself. If this is not possible, ask a container service (keyword: waste disposal).
