If you search the web for windfall collectors, you'll come across an interesting-looking spherical construction made of metal wires. In numerous videos you can see how this windfall collector easily collects apples, pears and - depending on the size - even eggs and nuts. But is it also suitable for self-construction?
Picking up apples by hand is tediousThis model is very sophisticated, but difficult to replicate yourself. If you happen to have strong but flexible wire handy, you can still try to build a sphere out of it. The problem is connecting the wires on the two sides of the ball, because this connection has to withstand pressure. It would be best to weld the wires, but a deep plug connection, e.g. in wood, is also conceivable. In order to make the windfall collector as simple as possible, do without a flexible attachment to the guide rods and simply screw them on. This way you won't be able to roll the fallen fruit collector, you will only be able to push it, but it also works that way.

Alternatively, you can use a PVC pipe. In these instructions you will learn how to quickly build a windfall collector from it.
