When the temperatures drop in late summer, it's time to move the Kalanchoen cultivated outdoors in the summer indoors. Overwintering the attractive succulent is just as unproblematic as caring for it, because it feels equally at home indoors and outdoors.

The Kalanchoe needs a rest period in winter

Bring Kalanchoe into the house in time

The heat-loving thick-leaf plant does not cope well with temperatures below 15 degrees. The following procedure is recommended:

  • As soon as it gets colder at night, put in Kalanchoen.
  • These can be overwintered at room temperature in a bright place.
  • A cool room in which the temperature does not fall below 15 degrees is advantageous for flowering.
  • Watering is done very sparingly and only when the bale feels dry.
  • There is no fertilization at all.

tips

Kalanchoen only bloom if they are not reached by daylight or artificial light for more than eight hours for a few weeks. If this is not possible, for example because you are spending the winter in a living room, put a cardboard box cut to size over the plant from around 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
