In natural ponds, pond filters and pond pumps are extremely visually disturbing. You can read in our article how best to "hide" them and what creative options there are for disguises.

Pond filters can be completely hidden with stones or dummies

Optical impairment

Pond filters and pond pumps with their plastic housings are not suitable for a pond that looks natural. They appear out of place and disturbing and therefore usually immediately catch the eye.

In order to conceal them optically, you can disguise them without any problems. However, you must ensure that you still have sufficient access to the devices:

  • to dismantle them
  • to open them if necessary
  • to clean them
  • to read the cleaning indicator

Coverings must therefore always be designed in such a way that they enable easy access to the devices and can also be completely removed (e.g. if the pond filter and pond pump are dismantled and stored indoors during the winter months).

costumes in stores

Most of the coverings offered in the trade are designed as “decor rocks”. They are visually quite convincing and blend in well with many plant environments.

If you don't particularly like this "uniform design", you can also use more creative options.

Disguise as a small house

House-shaped panels are very popular. The small houses look like model houses and are often lovingly designed: with half-timbering or thatched roof, true to the original with windows, doors and brickwork or as a complete complex of several houses next to each other.

Creative disguises

In principle, you can use any material and any decorative object that can accommodate a pond filter and pond pump. The possibilities for this are almost unlimited:

Just take an old decorative barrel and place the pond pump and pond filter in it. You can then conveniently guide the outlet straight through the bunghole of the keg.

Build a "treasure chest" or a pirate chest for the pond edge and store the two devices in it. If the box is a bit larger, you can also put some pond accessories with you.

A hollow tree stump or a planted bowl can also be used to accommodate the pond filter and pond pump.

tips

Above all, make sure that you can still read the cleaning indicators of the pond filter clearly and conveniently - they are important in operation.
