Canary date palms are conditionally hardy. They tolerate low minus temperatures. When caring for a Canary date palm in a bucket, however, you should take appropriate measures to protect it from too much frost.

The Canary Date Palm can stay outside all year round

Hibernate the Canary date palm properly

Even if Canary date palms are partially hardy, it is better to overwinter them in a bucket frost-free.

Place the pot in a location where temperatures are ideally between ten and twelve degrees. The place should be bright but not too sunny. Cool entrance areas or an unheated conservatory that is protected by frost guards are well suited.

In winter, the Canary date palm is poured much more sparingly. Also, do not fertilize the palm tree during the winter months. After hibernation, repot the plant.

tips

In a sheltered location, you can also take care of a Canary date palm outside all year round. However, the temperatures must not drop below -6 degrees. Protect the palm from frost with fleece or sacking.
