When the first flowers appear, the Chilean honey palm is about 60 years old. You certainly won't want to wait that long. So if you value flowers, you should choose a different type of palm tree. In contrast to real ferns, cycads reproduce through flowers, not through spores. However, it requires a lot of care and is unfortunately also poisonous.

Can I propagate my palm tree with flowers or seeds?

If you would like to grow indoor palms from seed, it is better to buy them from a specialist shop than to wait for your own palm tree to flower. Not only do some species flower very late, some species only produce viable seeds if you have male and female plants. You should only embark on this adventure if you know exactly which palm tree you own and how to propagate it.

Very decorative: the flower of the Yucca rostrata

Native to Texas and northern Mexico, Yucca rostrata is very hardy. This makes it an interesting palm not only for the living room but also for the garden. Their inflorescences grow above the leaves and can reach a height of about one to two meters. The mostly white or cream-colored flowers hang down bell-shaped. Since this yucca is easy to care for, it is also suitable for beginners.
