Yellow leaves are always a sign of improper care. In most cases it is because the poinsettia is too damp.
Causes can be too frequent and heavy watering. Sometimes waterlogging occurs because the pot has no drainage hole or excess water is not immediately removed from the saucer.
To prevent the leaves from yellowing, water the poinsettia moderately. It must not dry out completely, but should only be watered again when the top layer of potting soil has completely dried out.
