Orchid is a subgroup of orchids native to Central Europe. The flowers are often inconspicuous. However, there are also species that develop very colorful flowers. The flowering time depends on the respective orchid species.

All orchid species have a fairly short flowering period

The heyday of orchids

When exactly the flowering period of the orchid begins cannot be determined uniformly. Depending on which species you grow in the garden, the plant will bloom at different times.

The flowering period of most orchid species begins in May and lasts several weeks. Some varieties do not show their flowers until June. In July the flowering period of almost all species is over.

Some species that occur in more southern regions also flower very early. Here the flowering time can start as early as March.

tips

Orchid is threatened with extinction. The plants may not be dug up or picked in the wild. Orchid plants are propagated in specialist nurseries and can be bought there for the garden.
