Lantana are very sensitive to frost and must therefore be overwintered indoors. In order to prepare the plant for hibernation, some care measures are necessary in advance. This also includes the targeted pruning.

How is the Lantana pruned?
First, carefully cut out everything that has faded. How much the plant is shortened afterwards depends on where you overwinter it:
- If the lantana moves into a warm room, only a slight shape cut is done.
- For overwintering in a bright, cold room, you can shorten the shoots by about a third. As a result, the small shrub requires less space and is easier to accommodate.
- If the plant overwinters in a very dark room, all branches are cut back to a hand's width. Due to the lack of foliage, the light requirement drops to zero.
tips
Since the lantana is not hardy, the small shrub cannot be overwintered outdoors. Even temperatures below five degrees are not good for them and can severely damage them.
