He is reluctant to lose out and allows himself to be prevented from growing through narrow gaps between paving slabs. Not only there, but also in the lawn, the dandelions are a thorn in the side of many gardeners. What methods and means can be used to remove it?

Why are dandelions so unpopular?
First of all, the question should be asked why the dandelion is so unpopular and why fighting this wild plant is often part of the 'duties' of allotment garden tenants. Here are the main reasons:
- its long taproot is difficult to remove
- he produces seeds in abundance
- the seeds are easily spread by the wind
- the weed crowds out weaker plants
- it literally proliferates in suitable locations
The right time: Absolutely before the seeds ripen
If you want to remove the dandelion, you should never do it when the seeds are ripe! Even with a light touch, for example with your foot, the seeds on the 'dandelions' come loose and are spread. They can germinate for up to 10 years and can drive the gardener to despair for that long.
It is best to destroy the dandelion before it starts flowering! But at the latest when the yellow flowers light up like signals, that should be a warning to you. It is then high time for a successful destruction!
Cut out the weeds
You can permanently eradicate the dandelions, among others, by cutting them out. This is considered the most effective and safest method. This can be done with a weed puller or a sharp, stable knife.
Since it is usually quite difficult to simply pull the dandelion out of the ground together with its long taproot, a weed puller comes in handy. Stick it in the ground right next to the dandelion plant. Now it's time to lever or turn slightly so that the taproot is loosened. Then it can be pulled out of the ground.
Stop the propagation: Cut off the flower heads
With a little sweat, you can curb (and get rid of) dandelions by periodically trimming their flower heads. Each plant is 1 to 3 years old. At some point it will die without having multiplied by means of its seeds.
Weed killer? Means of second choice…
Annihilators based on chemistry should be seen for what they are: poison. Do you want something like this in the garden? If you cannot find any other way out, sprays should only ever be an emergency solution. The toxins penetrate the soil and do not simply fizzle out again.
Prefer to use home remedies?
You can also get rid of all types of dandelion with home remedies. How it works? For this you need a home remedy that puts an end to the dandelion. Pour this directly onto the plant. For example:
- salt
- vinegar
- boiling water
tips
On a large scale, household remedies such as salt and vinegar are not recommended, as they damage the floor.
