The cobbler palms are a separate genus in the asparagus family. They are hardy houseplants that used to decorate shops and homes but are now out of fashion. Cobbler palms do not contain poisonous plant parts.

The cobbler's palm (Aspidistra elatior) is an indoor palm that grows up to 70 cm high and basically consists of a large number of leaves. The leaves
- grow directly from the rhizomes only half covered by the earth,
- reach a length of about 50 cm,
- are dark green and
- have a leathery surface.
There are no indications of the toxic effects of the leaves or other parts of the plant on humans or animals. On the numerous web pages that describe poisonous indoor plants, the cobbler palm is always classified as harmless.
